Agriculture Minister Inam Karimov met with students at Azerbaijan State Agricultural University (ASAU) on September 17 to begin 2019/2020 school year. The meeting was attended by the head of the executive branch of the city of Ganja Niyazi Bayramov and the leaders of the relevant ministries.
Opening the event, Inam Karimov said that the development of the agricultural sector was declared by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev as one of the priority fields. Measures of state support for agricultural development are provided, farmers are provided with subsidies and soft loans: “As a result of state support, the total volume of agricultural production in the first six months of this year increased by 13 percent compared to the same period last year”. Noting that the intensive development of agriculture directly depends on professional personnel, the Minister noted that one of the basic conditions of the agricultural sector is the training of modern, highly educated specialists. As in the rest of the world, in Azerbaijan there is an increasing need for qualified specialists who could effectively use modern technologies that will increase productivity in the agricultural sector. In this regard, the Azerbaijan State Agricultural University, which has a rich history and traditions, trains highly qualified specialists in agriculture, has a special place and weight in higher education. Today, agricultural specialties and professions are the most prestigious specialties. The most popular specialties in Azerbaijan are related to the agricultural sector. In recent years, thanks to the care and attention of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, to the agricultural sector, agro education and science, material and technical base of the university has significantly strengthened, educational buildings have been updated and new educational institutions have been created. The university has created all the conditions for the training of highly qualified specialists in the agricultural sector. ” In his speech, the head of the executive branch of the city of Ganja, Niyazi Bayramov, stressed that the reforms initiated by the national leader Heydar Aliyev were successfully continued by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev. The head of the executive branch, wishing success to the graduates, noted that the development of the agricultural sector is also associated with higher education in ASAU. The rector of the higher educational institution, corresponding member of ANAS, professor Ibrahim Jafarov praised the significant increase in the number of students studying at the university in the field of agriculture and public order. Ibrahim Jafarov spoke in detail about the modernization of the material and technical base of the university and the provision of competitive training, as well as the work to prepare for the new school year. The rector said that improving the training of existing specialists has always been in the spotlight and emphasized that students were involved in training programs that meet modern standards. Later, Minister Inam Karimov met with students who entered the ASAU in agricultural and non-agricultural specialties. Students who has achieved good results in the entrance exams receive awards. Speaking at the event, students and parents expressed deep gratitude to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, for their attention and concern for agricultural education. Inam Karimov is the renovated floor of the ASAU Faculty of Engineering, the doctor’s center for the Nizami project under the Erasmus + program, the Laboratory of Electronic Energy, the Training and Consulting Center, the Laboratory of Biotechnology and Biochemistry, Plant Audience, and the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Zoological Research. He visited fish breeding laboratories. The Minister familiarized himself with the launch of the new television Internet studio ASAU and wished the staff success.
Further, Inam Karimov familiarized himself with the conditions created for students in the 1034 seat Student House. The Minister visited the Faculty of Agriculture, the Master Training Center, the Faculty of Agricultural Economics, as well as animal husbandry and educational facilities in the educational experimental farm. The Minister informed about implementation work on the farm and conditions for students to gain practical knowledge. According to Inam Karimov, improving the material and technical base of educational institutions at ASAU is always in the spotlight. The Minister of Agriculture was also interested in the construction of the new ASAU training building.
During the academic year 2017/2018, 1185 students entered the Azerbaijan State Agricultural University, and 1292 students in the academic year 2018/19. This year, for the first time in the history of the university, 1315 students enrollment reached its highest level. In the 2019/2020 academic year, the university admission plan was 92% complete. Students who has scored more than 400 points in entrance exams to universities and selected agricultural specialties of the Azerbaijan State Agricultural University will be given additional scholarships in the amount of 100 manat and more than 200 manat - more than 500 points.
