The 4th meeting of the joint intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Moldova was held in Baku. Before the session, there was a meeting between the delegation led by the co-chairman of the intergovernmental commission, Minister of Agriculture Inam Karimov from Azerbaijan, and the delegation led by the co-chairman of the commission, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure Andrey Spinu from Moldova. During the meeting, it was emphasized that the relations between Moldova and Azerbaijan are developing dynamically in the field of agriculture as well as in all fields of the economy, and the prospects of bilateral cooperation in various fields were extensively discussed.
Later, the 4th meeting of the joint intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Moldova got underway.
Inam Karimov, co-chairman of the Azerbaijan-Moldova joint intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation, who opened the event with an introduction, informed about the reforms implemented in the direction of economic diversification in our country. Reminding that there is a reliable and favorable business environment in our country, the minister encouraged Moldovan entrepreneurs to evaluate investment opportunities in Azerbaijan: "Taking into account our economic potential, we should continue to work on diversifying our trade relations and increasing trade turnover. In this regard, joint business forums, including mutual participation in international fairs, will strengthen cooperation between our business circles. Azerbaijan has become one of the reliable transport and logistics centers of the Eurasian region. Seaports, railway communication, airports and highways, and modern transport infrastructure give us great advantages to increase our efficient trade relations.
Andrey Spinu, co-chairman of the Azerbaijan-Moldova joint intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation, said that Moldova is a friendly country with Azerbaijan and is interested in developing partnership relations in all sectors. It was emphasized that there is great potential for expanding the partnership between the two countries in the economic as well as in the agricultural sectors. It was stated that the transfer of modern agricultural technologies, conducting joint scientific research, and training of specialists in the field of agriculture, and the export of agricultural products can be the main directions of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Moldova in the field of agriculture.
Next, the participants discussed the status of implementation of the decisions taken at the 3rd session of the Azerbaijan-Moldova joint intergovernmental commission held on April 26, 2012, and noted that important work has been done in this direction.
At the end of the event, a protocol was signed on the results of the 4th meeting of the joint intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation between Azerbaijan and Moldova. According to the document, bilateral cooperation will be strengthened in many areas, including economics and trade, energy, agriculture, regional development, and construction, as well as humanitarian aid, ICT, food safety, tourism, customs, and other areas.
