The next meeting of the Council of Farmers was held. Representatives of the administration of the Ministry of Agriculture, Heads of subordinate institutions, members of the Council of Farmers participated in that meeting.
The Council of Farmers operates under the Ministry of Agriculture. One third of the composition of the Council is renewed every 6 months in rotation. Currently, advanced farmers operating in grain, cotton, tobacco, fruit growing, livestock, beekeeping, seed growing and other fields from 15 regions of the country are represented in the Farmers' Council.
Minister of Agriculture Inam Karimov, who opened the meeting with an introductory speech, mentioned that the development of the agricultural sector was announced as one of the priority areas by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev. Systematic support measures are implemented by the state for the development of the agricultural sector, subsidies are provided for the development of this sector. As a result of the implemented measures and the efforts of farmers, a 3.4 percent increase in the agricultural sector was recorded in Azerbaijan last year. The Minister touched upon the innovations implemented in the organization of agricultural activities and emphasized the importance of maintaining the growth rate in the agrarian sector.
Members of the Council of Farmers shared their views on the development of various fields of agriculture, including grain, cotton, cocoon, seed growing, intensive horticulture and animal husbandry. Timely and correct implementation of agrotechnical measures for high productivity, laying of land plots, conducting agrochemical analysis, correct use of mineral fertilizers, drugs and pesticides, timely implementation of pest control measures and other topics were discussed at the meeting.
At the meeting, the importance of continuing awareness activities among farmers in the regions was emphasized, the discussions on the provision of mineral fertilizers, seeds and equipment, subsidies, concessional loans, the introduction of agrarian insurance, irrigation issues were exchanged.
The proposals of the members of the Farmers' Council were recorded, and tasks were given for the implementation of the applications.
