The collection of cotton growing using on the basis of Chinese technology started with the technique in Ujar

11 October 2019

On October 11, in Shirvan Experimental Station which is situated in the institute for Plant Protection and Technical Plants of the Agricultural Science and Innovation Center under the Ministry of Agriculture started harvesting Chinese cotton in Ujar.

The cotton survey was conducted by the Minister of Agriculture Inam Karimov, representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture, officials of the executive power of the Ujar region, heads of subordinate structures of the Ministry, Azerbaijan State Agricultural University, State Agricultural Development Centers for cotton growing regions and chinese specialist Dey Xun Vi and cotton growers.

Agriculture Minister Inam Karimov shared his views on cotton yields with Chinese experts and local farmers.

Later, a harvest of cotton planted on the ground using innovative Chinese technologies began at the Shirvan experimental station. Agriculture Minister Inam Karimov oversaw the harvesting process of a 57-year-old female engineer named Gulsura Ibadova.

The head of the Department of the Ministry of Agriculture, Imran Jumshudov, said that the rules for agricultural services were more strictly enforced during the cotton cultivation this year. The head of the department noted that these factors will have a positive impact on labor productivity, adding that in 2019 the ministry introduced modern innovative methods in the cotton industry.

I.Jumshudov said that 10 hectares in Ujar are using modern technology based on Chinese technology. According to him, 70-80 centners of grain per hectare are forecasted.

It was reported that, in contrast to traditional methods of cultivation, the area of 10 hectares cultivated by Chinese technology was prepared using laser beams. The advantages of this technology, currently used in China, are that laser treatment prevents secondary salinization of the soil, saves water and promotes uniform germination of seeds, which leads to increased productivity.

The technical advantage of the new system is that it is possible to perform 3 operations in one step (germination of seed, drip irrigation of pipes, opening of a polyethylene shawl). At the same time, a new innovative technology is characterized by a high density of plants per hectare. So, according to Chinese technology, the range is 90 centimeters, and 200-220 thousand seeds are sown on each hectare. To date, 100-110 thousand seeds have been sown on each hectare in the traditional way.

Preventing evaporation from the soil and creating a moisture reserve is one of the advantages of planting cotton using innovative technologies. The use of polyethylene shawl for planting and growing cotton according to Chinese technology limits the development of weeds, which is one of the main advantages compared to the traditional method. In addition, the polyethylene shawl creates a good temperature regime for seed development, which allows for early sowing.

Participants of the event were told that this year, for the first time in the country, a new innovative chemical fight against the red tick began using a drone on a cotton field planted with Chinese technologies in the Ujar region.

It was noted that the lack of agricultural soil in Azerbaijan makes it necessary to increase productivity through intensive methods. Experts of the Ministry said that three cotton farms were created. So, along with Chinese technology, Greek model farms were created Turk in Beylagan, Tartar and Salyan. This innovative technology will reduce weed control and resources for irrigation. The main goal now is to implement these highly effective pilot projects in larger areas. In this regard, teachers and students of the Azerbaijan State Agricultural University will be provided with detailed information on the introduction of Chinese cotton planting technology, as well as the advantages of this innovative project for cotton growing companies will be demonstrated.

At the end of the event, farmers' experts answered in detail the questions of farmers regarding the introduction of new technologies, and an exchange of views on high productivity is expected this year on the cotton fields of the republic.
